‘Vasco & the Explorers’ Alvarinho WO Stellenbosch, 2018

Off-piste: 89/10

What a name!

It sounds like one of the comics I used to read when I was a kid.

Indeed, this vino is like jumping into an adventure: happy, intrepid, appley and very full on the nose. But with fantastic depth and real spice on the palate. It does everything you would expect from an Alvarinho: a fresh, vibrant profile of grape variety.

A super enjoyable ride

No wonder it's one of the grapes used to make Port wine. Albeit simple and straightforward story telling. We love this juicy and dense sweet dark berry. Nothing harsh here.
