Vigneron Parisien ‘Turbigo’ Vin de France Cinsault 2018, France

Score: 92/100, Off Piste

Les Vignerons Parisiens is the first and only urban winery in Paris. They produce around 37,000 bottles per vintage, divided over five different cuvées.

It was founded by Matthieu Bosser with two partners, oenologist Emmanuel Gagnepain and biodynamic viticulture consultant Frédéric Duseigneur.

Based in the 3 eme Arrondissement, their certified organic grapes are sourced from four growers, located in the communes of Visan and Sabran in the southern Rhône.

The grapes are harvested by their own team of pickers, usually between 6am and noon. The whole clusters are carefully placed into small lug-boxes. They are then loaded onto pallets and transported by refrigerated trucks. After 18 hours of cooling, they are crushed at the rear of their small (organically certified) cellar on Rue de Turbigo.

The wine is raised in-tank and bottled at the end of the April following harvest.

The Turbigo is a 40 to 50-year old Cinsault raised in stainless steel. It’s named after the small boulevard that’s home to their winery.

Beautiful cloudy shiny red. Great funk and purity on the nose. Sweet ripe fruit on the palate, very juicy and fresh. Great flow, seamless, clean taste, great balance, long. Medium body, long finish. Beautiful funk!
